Welshpool 4th March 1967. BR standard
4, 4-6-0 No 75021 heads the last “up” Cambrian Coast Express. The wreath on
the front buffer beam says it all. This train not only marked the last though
working from London Paddington but also, the end

Penryndeudraeth 26th May 1965. 75002
with the Pwhelli portion of the up Cambrian Coast Express, exchanges single
line tokens with the signalman at
Penryndeudraeth. Note the gunpowder vans in the siding on the extreme left.

Standard class 4, 4-6-0 75029 stands at the old GWR platform just south of
the main station which was originally Cambrian Railways. The engine is
waiting for empty coaching stock and will form the 14:55 to Chester via
