Just
a little personal bit : I am
an Electrical Engineer living in Telford (UK). I have been interested in
Railways most of my life. My
first memories of railways go back to the mid 1950’s when steam still ruled
and heavy industries like coal mining and steel works were still a common
sight in the “Black Country”. Like
many kids of that period living in the Midlands, summer holidays were spent
at locations along the Cambrian coast or on the coast of North Wales. Inevitably
travel to these destinations was made by steam train, and for me this was the
most exciting part of the holiday, and was the inspiration for LLAFFAN. The
late 1960’s saw big changes. Dr
Beeching had decided that a lot of secondary routes were to close and worse
than that steam was on the way out. Suddenly things were different and my
interest in the prototype was lost. A
decade later in the 1970’s the pendulum swung the other way and the
preservation movement had rekindled my interest again. The Severn Valley
Railway was virtually on my door step and several visits were made to
Bridgnorth. About
the same time I became a member of Stourbridge Model Railway Society and my
interest in railway modelling was born. I
have since built many layouts and models as well as
LLAFFAN
shown on this site. I
have just started work on my latest layout
PEN-Y-BONT and
that layout
features on this site too. I
hope to gradually add to this site as my layout and projects progress and
also to keep the Steam photos section updated with new pictures as I take
them. If
you have any comments about the site, or would like any information about any
of the models, why not drop me an
